Analysis
This resolution approves the execution of an Intergovernmental Cooperation Agreement between the City of Milwaukee and the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District regarding the maintenance of WaterMark art installations developed by City as Living Laboratory.
Body
Whereas, City as Living Laboratory (“CALL”) is a nonprofit organization working with artists, scientists, and residents of urban communities to create sustainable solutions for environmental issues; and
Whereas, in 2017, CALL developed WaterMarks: An Atlas of Water for the City of Milwaukee initiative to engage residents via artistic installations throughout Milwaukee communities in conceptualizing their role in water systems and infrastructure; and
Whereas, CALL’s initiative also promotes the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District’s (“MMSD”) goals of providing water reclamation and flood management services in the City; and
Whereas, the City of Milwaukee (“City”) Department of City Development separately agreed to fund the design and installation costs for four WaterMarkers along East Greenfield Avenue through funds from Tax Incremental Financing District No. 96, approved by Common Council Resolution No. 181254; and
Whereas, the City, through its Department of Public Works (“DPW”), and MMSD desire to participate collaboratively in the WaterMarks initiative and monitor and maintain the art installations on each parties’ respective property; now therefore, be it
