Analysis
This resolution amends Common Council File Number 030131 relative to the Milwaukee Fire Department's application for, acceptance and expenditure of grant funds from the Division of Wisconsin Emergency Management to enhance the capabilities of state and local first responders. The State Domestic Preparedness Program has additional grant funds available and the Milwaukee Fire Department is eligible to apply for the additional funds, which would purchase advanced levels of equipment.

Body
Whereas, Common Council File Number 030131, adopted May 13, 2003, authorized the Milwaukee Fire Department (MFD) to apply for, accept and expend grant funds of $23,965 from the Division of Wisconsin Emergency Management for the purchase of advanced levels of equipment for first responders and for the protection of critical infrastructure; and

Whereas, The Fiscal Year 2002 State Domestic Preparedness Program has an additional $18,569 in funds available and the Milwaukee Fire Department is eligible to apply for the additional funds, which would provide a grantor share total of $42,534; and

Whereas, The operation of this grant project from date of the state award to January 31, 2004 would cost $42,534 to be provided by the grantor; and

Whereas, The MFD would use the additional grant funds to purchase rescue and communications equipment for first responders; now, therefore, be it
