Resolution amending Common Council Resolution File Number 001699 relating to procedures for the selection of a new city flag.
Analysis
This resolution amends Common Council Resolution File Number 001699, adopted on August 2, 2001, relating to the procedures for the selection of a new city flag, by deleting throughout the resolution the word "citywide" and inserting in lieu thereof the word "statewide." This amendment is necessary in order to make the resolution consistent with the intent of the sponsors and the Arts Board contest rules that specify that the design competition is open to any resident or student in the state of Wisconsin and is not limited to city residents only.

Whereas, On August 2, 2001, the Common Council adopted Resolution File Number 001699 relating to the procedures for the selection of a new city flag, which also approved the design contest rules that were created and submitted by the Arts Board; and
Whereas, As was the intent of the sponsors, the Arts Board contest rules specify that the design competition is open to any resident or student in the state of Wisconsin; and
Whereas, Common Council Resolution File Number 001699 authorizes the Arts Board to hold a citywide competition for the redesign of the city flag and does not specify a statewide contest; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that Common Council Resolution File Number 001699 is amended by deleting throughout the resolution the word "citywide" and inserting in lieu thereof the word "statewide."
