This substitute resolution will authorize the proper City officials to enter into a Property Easement Agreement with the developers of the proposed Courtyard by Marriott Hotel project. The Easement will allow the developer to build a portion of their elevator connector structure on and over City property located adjacent to the Grand Avenue Parking Garage. The elevator connector structure will allow hotel guests to park in the Grand Avenue Parking Garage and then access the hotel directly from the Garage.
BODY:
Whereas, Milwaukee Hotel Venture Limited Partnership has proposed the development of a 169-room Courtyard by Marriott Hotel facility adjacent to the Grand Avenue Shopping Center; and

Whereas, The Courtyard by Marriott Hotel contemplates utilizing the Grand Avenue Parking Garage ("Garage") for guest parking; and

Whereas, To provide efficient access from the Garage to the hotel facility, an elevator is proposed to be constructed that will allow hotel guests direct access from the Garage to the lobby of the hotel; and

Whereas, To construct this elevator connection, an Easement between the City of Milwaukee and Milwaukee Hotel Venture Limited Partnership must be provided to allow for the construction of such elevator on and over a small portion of City-owned property; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee that the proper City officials are authorized and directed to enter into any and all appropriate Easement documents necessary to facilitate the construction of an elevator connection between the proposed Courtyard by Marriott Hotel and the Grand Avenue Parking Garage; and, be ...
