Substitute resolution implementing a provision of the 2003 City budget relating to the Fire Department's Fire Fighters Out Creating Urban Safety program.
Analysis
This resolution implements a provision of the 2003 City budget that directs that the Fire Department's Fire Fighters Out Creating Urban Safety program be expanded to include the provision, at no charge, of adhesive address numbers to residents for use on their garages or near back doors to aid in the identification of their properties in emergencies.

Whereas, The 2003 adopted City budget contains a footnote directing that the Fire Department's Fire Fighters Out Creating Urban Safety (FOCUS) program be expanded to include the provision of adhesive address numbers to residents for use on their garages or near back doors to aid in the identification of their properties in emergencies; and
Whereas, The FOCUS program has had great success in reducing the incidence of fire in various areas of the City, with its direct, door-to-door and face-to-face approach to fire prevention; and
Whereas, In an emergency situation, being able to correctly identify the address of a property, even from the rear, can save precious time, property and lives; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Fire Chief is directed to expand the FOCUS program to include the provision, at no charge, of adhesive address numbers to residents for use on their garages or near back doors to aid in the identification of their properties in emergencies.
