Minutes note: Jeanne Dawson, HACM’s Program Specialist, gave a summary of the background for the sale of the property located 3156 North 24th Place, stating that this request has come before the Board on a previous occasion. She also noted the condition of the house and the rehab costs to bring it up to code. She stated that the opportunity to sell the property for $1000.00 to AHA 1, LLC, a subsidiary of Acts Housing, is right in line with HACM’s mission as they will rehab the house and sell it to an income-eligible owner-occupied family. In response to the Commissioners, the property was identified as being in Alderman DiAndre Jackson’s district. The Commissioners also requested that, moving forward, the Alderperson of that district be notified of potential sales of HACM property.

WHEREAS, the Housing Authority of the City of Milwaukee (HACM) owns and manages more than 4,000 units of low-rent public housing under the terms of an Annual Contributions Contract with the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD); and

 

WHEREAS, the Housing Authority previously received approval from the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to sell Scattered Site houses to low income, first time home buyers, and to Purchase and Rehab Entities under the Section 32 Homeownership Program; and

 

WHEREAS, the property located at 3156 n. 24TH Pl. is a Scattered Sites property with repairs estimates that exceed the value of the real estate; and

 

WHEREAS, AHA 1, LLC. is the purchasing subsidiary of Acts Housing, a non-profit agency which provides homebuying counseling, purchasing assistance, and rehabbing assistance to first-time, low-income home buyers; and

 

WHEREAS, AHA 1, LLC. will rehab the home and resell it to an income eligible homebuyer, thereby keeping the property as low-income housing; and

 

WHEREAS, the Acting Secretary-Executive Director recommends approving the sale of 3156 N. 24th Pl. to AHA 1, LLC. for $1,000.00; and

 

NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the Housing Authority of the City of Milwaukee that the sale of the property located at 3156 N. 24th Pl. be approved; and, be it

 

FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Acting Secretary-Executive Director is hereby authorized to take any and all actions necessary to complete the sale of this property.
