This resolution authorizes the Milwaukee Water Works to grant permission to the Village of Greendale to provide water service to an adjoining property in the City of Franklin which could not be practically served by either the Milwaukee Water Works, or by the City of Franklin.
BODY:
Whereas, A property located at 6669 South 76th Street in the City of Franklin bordering the Village of Greendale is experiencing water quality problems due to its proximity to an abandoned Milwaukee County dump; and
Whereas, Milwaukee County has requested that the Village of Greendale, a wholesale customer of the Milwaukee Water Works, provide water service to this property; and
Whereas, The City of Franklin and the Village of Greendale are agreeable to this water service extension, it being to an isolated area not easily serviceable by Franklin, and therefore not constituting a precedent by which Greendale would provide water service to other properties in Franklin; and
Whereas, The Agreement Between the City of Milwaukee and the Village of Greendale for the Purchase of Water at Wholesale, dated February 18, 1997, provides that Greendale may not sell or exchange water on a wholesale or retail basis outside its corporate limits without the permission of Milwaukee; and
Whereas, The Milwaukee Water Works stands to gain revenue at wholesale rates by the Village of Greendale's addition of this property which Milwaukee could not practically serve directly; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Superintendent of the Milwaukee Water Works is hereby authorized to grant permission to the Village of Greendale to provide water service to the property at 6669 South 76th Street in t...
