Substitute resolution accepting a gift of a sculpture to be installed in the public right-of-way.
Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Commissioner of Public Works to accept a gift of a sculpture funded by North South Productions, and to issue a permit to install the sculpture in the public right-of-way on the roundabout at W. Winnebago Street, W. Juneau Avenue, and N. 7th Street.
North South Productions has offered to donate and install a sculpture “Floating Tap” to be created by the Milwaukee blacksmith Kent Knapp. The gift of the Floating Tap sculpture is made possible by the upcoming History Channel series “Milwaukee Blacksmith” produced by North South Productions.

Whereas, North South Productions has offered to commission a sculpture to be known as “Floating Tap” to be created by Milwaukee blacksmith Kent Knapp; and
Whereas, Upon its completion, the proposed sculpture would be donated to the City for installation on the roundabout at W. Winnebago Street, W. Juneau Avenue, and N. 7th Street; and
Whereas, North South Productions will pay for the installation of the Floating Tap sculpture; and
Whereas, The City would be responsible for the sculpture’s long-term maintenance and for any future liability that may arise in conjunction with the sculpture; and
Whereas, The Commissioner of Public Works needs authorization from the Common Council to issue a permit for the installation of the sculpture; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Commissioner of Public Works is authorized accept this gift of a sculpture to be known as the “Floating Tap” donated by North South Productions, and to issue a permit to install this sculpture in the public right-of-way on the roundabout at W. Winnebago Street, W. Juneau Avenue, and N. 7th Street; and, be it
