Title
Resolution authorizing the transfer and expenditure of $101,983 from the Neighborhood Commercial District Street Improvement Fund for the Bronzeville Commercial District Enhancement Project, in the 6th Aldermanic District.
Analysis
This resolution approves the expenditure of $101,983 for the Bronzeville Commercial District Enhancement Project. The project area is located on North Avenue from MLK Jr. Drive to I-43. The proposed streetscape project’s key elements include colored stamped concrete intersections, bike racks, informational kiosks, directional and gateway signage, street furniture, banners, improved bus shelters, pocket greenspaces and other commercial district enhancements.
Body
Whereas, The 2007 Capital Budget for the City of Milwaukee (“City”) contains $101,983 in the Neighborhood Commercial District Street Improvement Fund; and

Whereas, The City has an ongoing commitment to the revitalization of neighborhood commercial districts; and

Whereas, The Bronzeville Commercial District Enhancement Project will further sustain the revitalization of the commercial district; and

Whereas, These public way improvements will greatly enhance the Bronzeville commercial corridor; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the proper City officials are directed to transfer $101,983 from the Neighborhood Commercial District Street Improvement Fund Account No. STO4080000 to the Bronzeville Commercial District Enhancement Project Account No. STO4084100; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller, in conjunction with the Commissioner of the Department of City Development, is directed to establish any and all subaccounts and follow the City guidelines necessary to maintain the fiscal control to carry out the intent and purpose of this resolution; and, be it
