Title
Resolution relating to development and processing of web-based requests for City services.
Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Department of Administration-Information Technology Management Division to:
1. Develop a single consistent web-based service request that will be passed to the appropriate City department for processing.
2. Work with all City departments to ensure that the new generic service requests are tracked and monitored through the disparate departmental systems and returned to the central site for reporting back to the requestors and elected officials.
3. Develop monitoring and reporting mechanisms so that departments and elected officials can monitor the frequency and status of requests in their respective areas of interest.

Whereas, The new City web site is focused on services to citizens and businesses, and not along departmental lines; and

Whereas, Nationwide, E-government use is increasing as people become more accustomed to doing business on the Internet; and

Whereas, The City wishes to find ways to increase efficiency and better serve constituents by streamlining access to City services; and

Whereas, Existing departmental databases are not standardized, and separate service requests look and function differently and are confusing to City web-site users; and

Whereas, Consistent appearance and functionality throughout the City's web site will enhance the user experience and make information and services easier to obtain and more convenient to use; and

Whereas, Elected officials and department managers would like better information on the frequency, nature, and handling of service requests; and

Whereas, The acquisition of better information will improve policy makers' decisions; and

Whereas, Community-based organizations have been asking for easier and better ways of accessing City services over the Internet; and
