Title:
Resolution relative to application, acceptance and funding of a Wisconsin Internet Crimes Against Children Grant.

Analysis:
This resolution authorizes the Milwaukee Police Department to apply for, accept, and fund a Wisconsin Internet Crimes Against Children Grant project from the Wisconsin Department of Justice- Division of Criminal Investigation in the amount of $85,000 and a city share of $0. The purpose of the project is to extend a multi-agency, interdisciplinary task force to investigate and prosecute Internet crimes against children. No position authority is contingent on the grant.

Body:
Whereas, The City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for grant funds from the Wisconsin Department of Justice- Division of Criminal Investigation, for an Internet Crimes Against Children Grant, and

Whereas, The operation of this grant from 01/01/07 to 12/30/08 would cost $85,000, of which $0 would be provided by the city and $85,000 (100%) would be provided by the grantor; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that application to the Wisconsin Department of Justice is authorized and the Police Department shall accept this grant without further approval unless the terms of the grant change as indicated in Common Council file 030712; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized to:

1. Commit funds within the Project/Grant Parent of the 2007 Special Revenue-Grant and Aid Projects, the following amount for the program titled Wisconsin Internet Crimes Against Children Grant:
