Substitute resolution relative to application, acceptance and funding of a Hit & Run Prevention Program.
ANLS:
This substitute resolution authorizes the Police Department to apply for, accept and fund a Hit & Run Prevention Program from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, Bureau of Transportation Safety in the amount of $12,400 with a city share of $4,400 and a grantor share of $8,000. The purpose of the project is to examine the hit & run problem in Milwaukee and devise an education and enforcement program to deal with it.
BODY:
Whereas,Under the terms of CFDA #20.600, The City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for grant funds from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration through the Wisconsin Department of Transportation for a Hit & Run Prevention Program; and

Whereas, The operation of this grant project from October 1998 to June 1999 would cost $12,400 of which $4,400(36%) would be provided by the city and $8,000(64%) would be provided by the grantor; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that application to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation is authorized and the Police Department shall accept this grant without further approval unless the terms of the grant change as indicated in Common Council File 940843; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized to:

1. Encumber in the parent accounts of the 1999 Special Revenue Accounts-Grant and Aid Projects, the following amounts for the project titled: Hit & Run Prevention Program
