Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Commissioner of Public Works and Comptroller to execute Local Force Account agreements with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation for the installation of traffic signal improvements using City forces at various intersections citywide under seven Highway Safety Improvement Program projects in various Aldermanic Districts. This resolution also authorizes the Comptroller to establish and transfer funds to the appropriate accounts for the project. The total estimated cost of all seven projects is $289,362.57, with an estimated grantor share of $243,756.31, and an estimated City share of $45,606.26.

Whereas, Seven Project Agreements for the installation of traffic signal improvements under the 2011 Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP) were approved by the Common Council under File Numbers 071689, 090888, and 100135; and
Whereas, The proposed projects include the installation of overhead mast arm signals, vehicle detection loops, pedestrian pushbuttons, and other traffic signal improvements at 28 intersections Citywide as shown in the attached maps; and
Whereas, The HSIP is intended to reduce the number and severity of vehicle and pedestrian crashes; and
Whereas, The total estimated cost of the seven projects is $289,362.57 for traffic control signal improvements; and
Whereas, $45,606.26 is not reimbursable and is included in the Division’s 2011 Capital Purpose Project/Grant Number ST320110000; and
Whereas, $243,756.31 is reimbursable from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WISDOT), and should be earmarked for thi...
