This resolution amends the disposition of said surplus, vacant, tax deed lot.
BODY:
Whereas, By adoption of Common Council File No. 970983 on November 4, 1997, 2978 North 55th Street, Tax Roll Key No. 306-0520-8, was declared surplus and then advertised as a residential building site on four separate occasions and no offers were received; and
Whereas, The adjoining owners, Fred Young, Jr. and Carmen Peace Young, with their property located at 2972 North 55th Street, have offered to purchase said lot from the City of Milwaukee containing 4,640 square feet for use as green space for $696; and
Whereas, Mr. and Mrs. Young are having continuous problems with area children using said lot as a playfield and have had several broken windows and thefts from their yard and daily debris to pick up; and
Whereas, To stop this type of activity, Mr. and Mrs. Young have offered to purchase said lot and then fence and maintain it; and
Whereas, Said lot is being sold in an "as is" condition; and
Whereas, The City Plan Commission has approved the acceptance of said offer, the sale of said lot to be consummated in the manner provided for in the sale of other tax deed lots pursuant to Section 304-49 of the Milwaukee Code of Ordinances; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee that said offer is accepted and that the proper City officials are authorized and directed to perform such acts as may be required to consummate the sale of said lot and that the proceeds be credited to the Reserve For Tax Deficit Fund Account No. 02-211-2700.
