Analysis

This resolution authorizes settlement of the lawsuit entitled Antoine Fuller, et al. v. City of Milwaukee, et al., U.S. District Court Case No. 24-CV-1131 for the total amount of $250, 000.00.

Body

Whereas, Plaintiffs, Antoine Fuller, Sarai Fuller, Emmanuel Fuller, and S.F. have filed a federal civil rights lawsuit against Milwaukee Police Department Officers, Justin Schwarzhuber, Joel Bandkowski, Megan Broadnax, Alexander Dey, Seth Edwards, Stephon Roby, Adam Rusch, Cameron Scott, Arnisha Thomas, Erin Tully, and Wynald Williamson and the City of Milwaukee.

 

Whereas, Counsel for the parties have reached an agreement to settle the above-referenced lawsuit for a total amount of $250, 000.00 subject to approval by the Common Council; and

 

Whereas, the City Attorney recommends and the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee deems it expeditious and just to settle this lawsuit; now, therefore be it

 

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the proper City officers be and hereby authorized and directed to issue a City check in the amount of $250, 000.00 payable to the order of Strang Bradley, LLC Client Trust Account at 613 Williamson Street, Suite 204 Madison, WI 53703 as soon as practicable, said amount to be charged to the Damages and Claims Fund, Account No. 0001-1490-S118-006300; and be it

 

Further Resolved, that for and in consideration of the above-referenced payments, the plaintiff, by their representatives, and their attorneys, will provide to the City a release of any and all claims arising out of or in any way related to this incident.
