Analysis
This substitute resolution authorizes and directs the Commissioner of Public Works to execute a project agreement with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation and the Federal Government for the programming and construction of shoreline protection improvements and a pedestrian/bike trail along City of Milwaukee property adjacent to the Milwaukee Art Museum. This resolution also authorizes the Commissioner of Public Works to let construction contracts for the project.

Whereas, It is the City of Milwaukee's goal to provide and enhance public access to the City's waterfronts; and

Whereas, It is the City of Milwaukee's goal to provide a continuous bike/pedestrian trail network linking various attractions and destinations within the city of Milwaukee; and

Whereas, The Hank Aaron State Trail will provide a route along the Menomonee River linking attractions located in The Menomonee Valley, including Miller Park, with lakefront attractions including The Henry Maier Festival Park and the planned Lakeshore State Park; and

Whereas, The Milwaukee County Oak Leaf Trail network provides an existing route along the lakefront from the Henry Maier Festival Park and the planned Lakeshore State Park through Veterans Park and Lake Park, including a segment on City-owned lands adjacent to the Milwaukee Art Museum addition; and
