This resolution authorizes acceptance and expenditure of a Local Law Enforcement Block Grant from the U.S. Department of Justice, Office of Justice Programs, Bureau of Justice Assistance.

Authority to apply for the grant came when file #970555 was approved by the Common Council. The public hearing requirement regarding the proposed use of funds from the grant in relation to the entire budget is addressed by the official notice of the Local Law Enforcement Block Grant appearing on the Committee and Council agendas which are publicly noticed.

The remainder of the grant goes to the County of Milwaukee in a direct transfer of funds through an Intergovernmental Cooperation Agreement to upgrade computer equipment in the District Attorney's office, to install a mobile data network at the Sheriff's Department and to fund a Parks Security Coordinator.
