Substitute resolution relative to acceptance and funding of the Homeland Security HAZMAT Radiological Equipment Grant from Wisconsin Department of Military Affairs.

Analysis

This resolution authorizes the Fire Department to accept and fund the Homeland Security HAZMAT Radiological Equipment Grant from the U. S. Department of Homeland Security through the State of Wisconsin Department of Military Affairs in the amount of $56,825.70.  The purpose of the contract is to purchase standardized radiological equipment for the response to a Weapons of Mass Destruction (WMD) and Chemical, Biological, Radiological, Nuclear and High Yield Explosive (CBRNE) incident, as well as other radiological incidents that may occur.

 

Body

Whereas, Under CFDA #97.067, the City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for grant funds from the U. S. Department of Homeland Security through the State of Wisconsin Department of Military Affairs for the Homeland Security HAZMAT Radiological Equipment Grant to purchase standardized radiological equipment for response to WMD and CBRNE incidents; and

 

Whereas, The operation of this grant project from 03/28/16 to 6/30/16 would cost $56,825.70 of which 100% would be provided by the grantor and; now, therefore, be it

 

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, the Fire Department shall accept this grant without further approval unless the terms of the grant change as indicated in Milwaukee Code of Ordinances Section 304-81; and, be it

 

Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized to:

 

1.  Commit funds within the Project/Grant Parent of the 2016 Special Revenue-Grant and Aid Projects Fund, the following amounts for the project titled Homeland Security HAZMAT Radiological Equipment Grant:

1.  Expend from the amount budgeted for specified purposes as indicated in the grant budget and incur costs consistent with the award date.
