Resolution relative to application, acceptance and funding of the Covering Kids Grant. (Health Department)
Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Health Department to apply for, accept and fund the Covering Kids Grant project from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation through Community Advocates in the amount of $29,684 grantor share. The purpose of the project is to assist low income families in obtaining medical insurance and food stamps and to develop strategies to reach out to families of school children.

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for grant funds from the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation through Community Advocates to assist low income families in obtaining medical insurance and food stamps and to develop strategies to reach out to families of school children; and
Whereas, The operation of this grant project
from 02/01/03 to 01/31/04 would cost $29,684 entirely provided by the grantor; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that application to the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation through Community Advocates is authorized and the Health Department shall accept this grant without further approval unless the terms of the grant change as indicated in Common Council File 940843 (Grant Ordinance); and, be it
Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized to:
1. Commit funds within the Project/Grant parent of the 2003 Special Revenue -Grant and Aid Projects Fund, the following amounts for the program titled Covering Kids Grant:

2. Create the necessary Special Revenue Fund - Grant and Aid Project/Grant and Project/Grant Levels; budget to these Project/Grant values the amount required under the grant agreement; and, be it
Further Resolved, That these funds are budgeted to the Health Department which is authorized to:
Expend from the amount appropriated sums for specified purposes as indicated in the grant budget and incur costs consistent with the award date; and be it
Further Resolved, That the Common Council directs that the 2003 Positions Ordinance C.C. File Number 020487, should be amended as follows:

Delete the title:
School Based Medical Assistance Outreach Grant(CC)
Replace with this title:
Covering Kids Grant (CC)
Amend footnote (CC) as follows:
(CC) To expire 01/31/04 unless the Covering Kids Grant is extended. Partially funds the Health Access Assistant II position.
