Title

Resolution transferring departmental budget authority for the previously awarded 2023-24 ReCAST grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.

Analysis

The City previously accepted an 2023-24 ReCAST grant from the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services to provide evidence-based violence prevention and community youth engagement programs to assist high-risk youth and families and promote resilience and equity. This resolution authorizes the City Comptroller to transfer the remaining balance as of December 31, 2023 in expenditure authority from that grant from the Health Department to the Department of Administration, which will carry out the purpose of the grant.

Body

Whereas, On July 11, 2023, the Common Council adopted Resolution File Number 230299, accepting and funding the 2023-24 ReCAST grant in the amount of $1,000,000 from the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services to provide evidence-based community violence prevention and resiliency programming; and

 

Whereas, the Office of Violence Prevention, which manages this grant-funded program will be organizationally transferred from the Health Department to the Department of Administration in January of 2024; now, therefore, be it

 

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the City Comptroller is authorized to transfer budget authority equal to the remaining balance as of December 31, 2023 from the 2023-24 ReCAST grant to the Department of Administration to provide evidence-based community violence prevention and resiliency programming; and, be it

 

Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized to transfer the balance remaining as of December 31, 2023 within the Project/Grant Parent for the project titled ReCAST 2023-24 from the Health Department to the Department of Administation
