TITLE

Resolution authorizing the issuance of a permit to FJA Christiansen Roofing Co., Inc. allowing occupancy of over half of the roadway (55%) at 1626 North Prospect Avenue.

ANALYSIS

This resolution authorizes City officials to issue an occupancy permit to allow FJA Christiansen to close over half of the roadway at 1626 North Prospect Avenue.  FJA Christiansen will be erecting a crane in conjunction with a roof replacement at the subject building.  In consideration of safety, no on-site land is available to place the mobile crane.  Therefore, FJA Christiansen has requested permission to occupy over half of the roadway of North Prospect Avenue.  Occupancy is expected to last for about four (4) weeks.

BODY

Whereas, FJA Christiansen is an agent for Katz Properties, the owner/manager of the building; and

 

Whereas, The existing building essentially cover the majority of the site leaving no room for safely placing the crane on private property or within less than a third of the roadway; and

 

Whereas, FJA Christiansen has requested permission to occupy 55% of the roadway on North Prospect Avenue at 1626 North Prospect Avenue to perform the required functions; and

 

Whereas, The street closure is expected to last four (4) weeks; and

 

Whereas, Two traffic lanes will remain available at all times; and

 

Whereas, FJA Christiansen will be responsible to provide all necessary traffic control in accordance with City requirements and permits; and

 

Whereas, FJA Christiansen will notify all owners of affected and adjacent properties in writing of the intended work and schedule; and

 

Whereas, A copy of such written notification shall be submitted to City staff prior to construction starting; and

 

Whereas, The Commissioner of Public Works may approve temporary occupancy of up to one third of roadway while temporary use beyond that point must be approved by the Common Council; now, therefore, be it

 

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the appropriate City officials are hereby authorized to issue a permit to FJA Christiansen allowing occupancy of the section of North Prospect Avenue described herein for a period of up to four (4) weeks from the date the permit is issued.
