Resolution authorizing the Department of Public Works to enter into a month-to-month lease agreement with Downtown Auto Parks to continue the management of 2 city-owned parking lots at 1801 N. Farwell Ave. and 1816 E. Lafayette Pl.
Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Department of Public Works to enter into a month-to-month lease agreement with Downtown Auto Parks to continue the management of 2 city-owned parking lots at 1801 N. Farwell Ave. and 1816 E. Lafayette Pl.
Body
Whereas, Section 309-61-1-b of the Milwaukee Code requires that all contracts for managing non-permit, non-metered city-owned surface parking lots shall be for a minimum duration of one year with up to 4 one-year extensions allowed; and

Whereas, The contract between the Department of Public Works and Downtown Auto Parks to manage 4 city-owned parking lots has expired with no additional extensions available under the terms of the contract; and

Whereas, Common Council File Number 972002, approved by the Common Council on May 5, 1998, directed the Department of City Development to prepare and implement a marketing plan for the sale and redevelopment of various city-owned parking lots; and

Whereas, Two city-owned parking lots that were managed by Downtown Auto Parks have already been sold; and

Whereas, The city is currently in negotiations to sell the parking lot at 1801 N. Farwell Ave. and the parking lot at 1816 E. Lafayette Pl.; and

Whereas, In an effort to minimize disruption to residents parking in these lots, the Department of Public Works would like to enter into a month-to-month agreement with Downtown Auto Parks to continue to manage these 2 parking lots until the time of sale; and

Whereas, The month-to-month agreement shall reflect the terms and conditions of the original agreement approved by the Common Council; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Department of Public Works is authorized to enter into a month-to-month lease agreement with Downtown Auto Parks to manage the city-owned parking lots located at 1801 N. Farwell Ave. and 1816 E. Lafayette Pl.; and, be it

Further Resolved, That this month-to-month agreement shall reflect the terms and conditions of the original agreement with Downtown Auto Park approved by the Common Council.
