Title

Resolution authorizing the transfer and expenditure of $425,000 from the Neighborhood Commercial District Street Improvement Fund for the South Point-Greenfield Avenue Commercial District Enhancement Project.

Analysis

This resolution approves the expenditure of $425,000 for the South Point-Greenfield Avenue Commercial District Enhancement Project. The project area is located on Greenfield Avenue from 16th to 27th Streets. The enhancement project will include enhanced pedestrian lighting, distinctive crosswalk treatments, bicycle amenities, banners, street furniture and the greening of public spaces and other commercial district identification enhancements.

Body

Whereas, The 2006 Capital Budget for the City of Milwaukee (“City”) contains $425,000 in the Neighborhood Commercial District Street Improvement Fund; and

 

Whereas, The City has an ongoing commitment to the revitalization of neighborhood commercial districts; and

 

Whereas, The South Point-Greenfield Avenue Commercial District Enhancement Project will further sustain the revitalization of the commercial district; and

 

Whereas, These public way improvements will greatly enhance the South Point-Greenfield Avenue commercial corridor; now, therefore, be it

 

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the proper City officials are directed to transfer $425,000 from the Neighborhood Commercial District Street Improvement Fund Project Account, STO4080000, to the South Point-Greenfield Avenue Commercial District Enhancement Project Account, STO4084000; and, be it

 

Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller, in conjunction with the Commissioner of the Department of City Development, is directed to establish any and all subaccounts and follow the City guidelines necessary to maintain the fiscal control to carry out the intent and purpose of this resolution; and, be it

 

Further Resolved, That all City officials, departments, boards and commissions are authorized and directed to assist and cooperate with said Project.
