Resolution relative to application, acceptance and funding of the Sexually Transmitted Diseases Grant. (Health Department)

 

Analysis

This resolution authorizes the Health Department  to apply for, accept and fund the  Sexually Transmitted Diseases Grant  from the State of Wisconsin Division of Health and Family Services in the amount of $133,331.   The purpose of the project is to reduce the incidence and complications of sexually transmitted diseases through preventive health education services and focused disease intervention activities.

 

Body

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for grant funds from the State of Wisconsin Division of Health and Family Services to reduce the incidence and complications of sexually transmitted diseases through preventive health education services and focused disease intervention activities; and

 

Whereas, The operation of this grant project from 01/01/01 to 12/31/01 would cost $133,331 provided by the grantor; now, therefore, be it

 

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that application to the Wisconsin Division of Health and Family Services is authorized and the Health Department shall accept this grant without further approval unless the terms of the grant change as indicated in Common Council File 940843 (Grant Ordinance); and, be it

 

Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized to commit funds within Project/Grant Parent 2001 Special Revenue Grant and Aid Project fund, the following amount for the project titled Sexually Transmitted Diseases Grant:

Further Resolved, That these funds are budgeted to the Health Department which is authorized to:

 

Expend from the amount  budgeted sums for specified purposes as indicated in the grant budget and incur costs consistent with the award date;  and, be it

 

Further Resolved, That the Common Council directs that the 2001 Positions Ordinance, C.C. File 000508, should be amended as follows:

Sexually Transmitted Disease Grant

 

Delete:

 

(1)  Office Assistant II (.6 FTE)

 

Amend footnote (F) as follows:

 

To expire 12/31/01 unless the Sexually Transmitted Disease Grant, available from the State of Wisconsin Division of Health and Family Services is extended.
