Resolution relative to application, acceptance and funding of the Bioterrorism Preparedness Laboratory Support Grant. (Health Department)
ANLS:
This resolution authorizes the Health Department to apply for, accept and fund the Bioterrorism Preparedness laboratory Support Grant project from the State of Wisconsin Division of Health and Family Services in the amount of $20,000.
BODY:
Whereas, The City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for grant funds from the State of Wisconsin Division of Health and Family Services to develop key components of a system that will prepare Milwaukee to better respond to bioterrorism threats; and
 
Whereas, The operation of this grant project from 07/01/00 to 06/30/01 would cost $20,000 provided by the grantor; now, therefore, be it
 
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that application to the State of Wisconsin Division of Health and Family Services is authorized and the Health Department shall accept this grant without further approval unless the terms of the grant change as indicated in Common Council File 940843 (Grant Ordinance); and, be it
 
Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized to:
 
1. Commit funds within the Project/Grant parent account of the 2000 Special Revenue Accounts-Grant and Aid Projects, the following amounts for the project titled Bioterrorism Preparedness Laboratory Support Grant:

2. Create the necessary Special Revenue Fund - Grant and Aid Project/Grant and Project Level Values; budget to these Project/Grant values the amount required under the agreement;
 
3. Establish the necessary City share project values; and, be it
 
Further Resolved, That these funds are appropriated to the Health Department which is authorized to:
 
Expend from the amount appropriated sums for specified purposes as indicated in the grant budget and incur costs consistent with the award date; and, be it
 
Further Resolved, That the Common Council directs that the 2000 Positions Ordinance, C.C. File 990704, should be amended as follows:

Add footnote (GG) as follows:
 
To expire 06/30/01 unless the Bioterrorism Preparedness Laboratory Support Grant from the State of Wisconsin Division of Health and Family Services is extended. .7 FTE of Microbiologist III position funded by the Bioterrorism Grant.
