Resolution authorizing attendance at meetings of the National League of Cities’ Community and Economic Development and Advocacy Committee.
Analysis
The President of the National League of Cities (NLC) has appointed Ald. Joe Davis, Sr. Chair of the Community and Economic Development and Advocacy Committee. This resolution authorizes Ald. Davis to attend meetings of this committee and to travel on official NLC business related to his role as chair of the committee, with funding for costs expended from the Economic Development Committee Fund Special Purpose Account.

Whereas, National League of Cities President Cynthia McCollum has appointed Ald. Joe Davis, Sr. Chair of the National League of Cities’ Community and Economic Development Policy and Advocacy Committee; and
Whereas, The Committee develops policy positions and advocates on behalf of the nation’s cities on national issues involving municipal government, including community development block grants, housing and economic development; and
Whereas, It is a significant honor for the City of Milwaukee to have a member of its Common Council selected for this important post in the national organization that represents the interests of cities throughout this nation; and
Whereas, Participation on the committee will require the expenditure of funds for travel, lodging and related expenses; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Common Council authorizes the participation of Ald. Joe Davis, Sr. as Chair of the National League of Cities’ Community and Economic Development Policy and Advocacy Committee; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the City Clerk is authorized to expend funds from the Economic Development Committee Fund Special Purpose Account (Account Number 0001-1310-S123-006300) for travel, lodging and per diem expenses related to Ald. Davis’ attendance and participation at meetings of the National League of Cities’ Community and Economic Development and Advocacy Committee and related official National League of Cities’ business related to his role as chair of the committee; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the authorized travel and expenditures shall be in accordance with all applicable provisions of section 350-181 of the Milwaukee Code of Ordinances.
