Resolution relative to application, acceptance and funding of a Wisconsin Joint Terrorism Task Force Grant. (Police Department)
Analysis:
This resolution authorizes the Milwaukee Police Department to apply for, accept and fund a Wisconsin Joint Terrorism Task Force grant from the U.S. Department of Justice, Federal Bureau of Investigation, in the amount of $20,122.89 with a city share of $9,549.33 and a grantor share of $10,573.56. The purpose of this grant is to investigate (through mutual agreement by Joint Terrorism Task Force member agencies) specifically identified terrorist organizations planning or carrying out terrorist acts occurring in, or affecting the state of Wisconsin and to apprehend those individuals committing such violations.

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for Wisconsin Joint Terrorism Task Force grant funds from the U.S. Department of Justice, Federal Bureau of Investigation; and
Whereas, The operation of this grant from 10/01/2002 to 9/30/2003 would cost $20,122.89 of which $9,549.33 (47%) would be provided by the city and $10,573.56 (53%) would be provided by the grantor; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that application to the U.S. Department of Justice, Federal Bureau of Investigation is authorized and that the Police Department shall accept this grant without further approval unless the terms of the grant change as indicated in Common Council File 940843; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized to:
1. Commit funds within the Project/Grant Parent of the 2002 Special Revenue-Grant and Aid Projects, the following amount for the program titled: Joint Terrorism Task Force Grant:

2. Create the necessary Grant and Aid Project/Grant and Project/Grant levels; budget against these Project/Grant values the amount required under the grant agreement;

Further Resolved, That these funds are budgeted for the Milwaukee Police Department which is authorized to:
Expend from the amount budgeted for specified purposes as indicated in the grant budget and incur costs consistent with the award date.
