TITL:

Substitute ordinance to further amend the 1997 offices and positions in the City Service under control of the Common Council.

BODY:

The Mayor and Common Council of the City of Milwaukee do ordain as follows:

Part 1. Section 1 of ordinance File Number 961002 relative to offices and positions in the City Service is hereby amended as follows:

Under "Health Department, Administration Decision Unit, SURVNET Grant", add one position of "Office Assistant II" and create footnote "(V)" to read: "To expire 9/30/98 unless the SURVNET Grant, available from the Wisconsin Division of Health and Family Services, is extended."; under "Public Health Services Decision Unit, Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Grant", delete one position of "Office Assistant II (W)" and under "Consumer Protection and Environmental Health, Childhood Lead Poisoning Prevention Grant", delete two positions of "Environmental Health Specialist II (W)."

Under "Police Department, Administration Decision Unit, Personnel and Administration Bureau", delete one position of "Assistant Chief of Police" and one position of "Inspector of Police" and add one position of "Deputy Chief of Police" and one position of "Police Commander"; under "Technical Services Bureau", delete one position of "Inspector of Police" and add one position of "Police Commander"; under "Operations Decision Unit, Patrol Division", delete one position of "Inspector of Police" and add one position of "Deputy Chief of Police" and under "Criminal Investigation Bureau", delete one position of "Inspector of Police" and add one position of "Deputy Chief of Police."

Part 2. All ordinances or parts of ordinances contravening the provisions of this ordinance are hereby repealed.

Part 3.                     The provisions of this ordinance are deemed to be in force and effect from and after the first day of the first pay period following passage and publication.

Part 4. This ordinance will take effect and be in force from and after its passage and publication.
