This resolution approves a Cooperation Agreement with Milwaukee County pursuant to which the City will cablecast regularly scheduled County Board meetings on the City's governmental access cable channel ("City Channel") and authorizes and directs the proper City officers to execute the Agreement. Under the Agreement, the County will pay for all equipment costs to provide for remote control cameras, on-site video recorders and other related equipment necessary for the transmission of regularly scheduled County Board meetings on the City Channel.

BODY:

Whereas, The City has entered into a January 1, 2000, Cable Television Franchise Agreement with Time Warner Cable of Southeastern Wisconsin ("Time Warner") under which Time Warner made available to the City at least 4 downstream video channels on Time Warner's cable system for the transmission of public, educational and governmental non-commercial access programming; and

 

Whereas, The City has designated one of the channels, currently denominated as Channel 25 (the " City Channel"), on Time Warner's cable system as the governmental access channel; and

 

Whereas, The County desires to have access to the City Channel for the transmission of County Board meetings; and

 

Whereas, The parties have agreed to enter into the Cooperation Agreement attached to this file pursuant to the provisions of s. 66.30, Wis. Stats.; now, therefore, be it

 

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Common Council approves the Cooperation Agreement between the City of Milwaukee and County of Milwaukee relative to cable television services attached to this file and authorizes and directs the proper City officers to execute the Cooperation Agreement.
