This resolution authorizes and directs the Commissioners of City Development and Public Works to enter into an agreement with the Union Pacific Railroad Company for the removal of certain bridge structures in and adjacent to East National Avenue from South Water Street to a point west, as part of the public improvement associated with the Florida Yards grant from the Economic Development Administration.
 
 
BODY:
Whereas, Common Council Resolution File Number 921499 authorized the application, acceptance and funding of a Public Works and Economic Development Administration Grant; and
 
Whereas, The subject grant was subsequently approved; and
 
Whereas, The public improvement projects in the grant activities included the complete removal of a former railroad bridge, the removal of the unused portion of a current railroad bridge, and the removal of unneeded structures associated with the bridges in, and adjacent to, East National Avenue between South Water Street and a point west of South Water Street; and
 
Whereas, It is desirable that an agreement be entered into by and between the City of Milwaukee and the Union Pacific Railroad Company for bridge structure removal; now, therefore, be it
 
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Commissioner of City Development and the Commissioner of Public Works are hereby authorized and directed to enter into an agreement with the Union Pacific Railroad Company, spelling out the parties' respective rights and obligations with respect to the bridge removal, a copy of said agreement being attached to this file by reference as though set forth in full; and, be it
 
Further Resolved, That the Commissioners of City Development and Public Works are authorized to make minor, non-substantive changes in the agreement prior to its execution.
