Analysis

This resolution authorizes the Milwaukee Police Department to apply for, accept and expend contributions of not more than $60,000 from the Greater Milwaukee Foundation for overtime deployment of additional foot patrol officers in the 6^th Police District.

Body

Whereas, Section 304-24 of the City of Milwaukee Code of Ordinances regulates the receipt, appropriation and expenditure of contributions received by the City; and

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee was authorized to enter into an agreement with the Greater Milwaukee Foundation for the establishment of a Police Endowment Fund by resolution in File Number 050165, adopted June 14, 2005; and

Whereas, Interest has been expressed in making contributions to the Greater Milwaukee Foundation to fund the overtime deployment of additional foot patrol officers in the 6^th Police District; and

Whereas, The overtime deployment of additional foot patrol officers in the 6^th Police District would serve to deter crime; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Police Endowment Fund is authorized to accept contributions of not more than $60,000 for overtime deployment of additional foot patrol officers in the 6^th Police District; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the City of Milwaukee Police Department is authorized to apply for, accept and expend contributions of not more than $60,000 from the Greater Milwaukee Foundation for overtime deployment of additional foot patrol officers in the 6^th Police District; and, be it

Further Resolved, That upon receipt and deposit of these funds, the City Comptroller is authorized and directed to establish a special account within the budget for expenditure of the contributions; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized and directed to transfer appropriations and estimated revenue from the Contribution Fund-General, account number 0001-2110-D001-006300, and the Estimated Revenue Account for contributions, account number 0001-2110-0001-009850 to the Police Department’s Special Account 0001-331-0001-Dxxx-006300, and the Police Department’s Estimated Revenue Account 0001-3310-0001-9850.
