Title
Substitute resolution authorizing the City of Milwaukee to enter into an Agreement with the Village of West Milwaukee, Main Street Milwaukee Partners Board and Layton Boulevard West Neighbors to extend the western boundary of the Silver City Main District from South 39th Street to Miller Park Way, in the 8th Aldermanic District.
Analysis
This substitute resolution authorizes the City of Milwaukee, Village of West Milwaukee, Main Street Milwaukee Partners Board and the Layton Boulevard West Neighbors (Silver City Main District) to enter into an Agreement, which expires on May 30, 2009 to extend the western boundary of the Silver City Main District from South 39th Street to Miller Park Way. The current main street commercial district boundary operates along West National Avenue from South 31st Street to South 39th Street.

Whereas, On November 3, 2004, the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee (“Common Council”) established a Main Street Milwaukee Program via passage of File No. 040858 and adoption of File No. 031155; and
Whereas, On March 23, 2006, the Common Council adopted File No. 051408, which authorized the City of Milwaukee, Village of West Milwaukee, Main Street Milwaukee Partners Board and Layton Boulevard West Neighbors (Silver City Main District) to enter into an Agreement to extend the western boundary of the Silver City Main District into the Village of West Milwaukee, along West National Avenue from South 39th Street to Miller Park Way; and
Whereas, Said Agreement expired on December 31, 2007 and all parties to such Agreement wish to enter into a new Agreement, which expires on May 30, 2009, a copy of which is attached to this Common Council File; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the proper City officials are directed to execute said Agreement between the Village of West Milwaukee, Main Street Milwaukee Partners Board and Layton Boulevard West Neighbors for the purposes stated herein.
