This ordinance increases fees for various permits issued by the department of public works. These permits relate to moving buildings, oversize or overload vehicles on public ways, driveway installation, excavation in public right-of-way, temporary use or occupancy of public ways and various types of work in public ways.
BODY:
The Mayor and Common Council of the City of Milwaukee do ordain as follows:
Part 1. Section 81-15-1-a and b of the code is amended to read:
81-15. Building Mover Permits. 1. ON ROLLERS.
a. For the first 2 city blocks or part thereof: [[$168]] >>$218<<.
b. For each additional city block or part thereof: [[$13]] >>$63<<.
Part 2. Section 81-15-2-a of the code is amended to read:
2. ON PNEUMATIC TIRE TRAILERS.
a. Except as provided in par. b, for the moving of buildings or structures on pneumatic tire trailers the total fee per structure shall be [[$139]] >>$189<<.
Part 3. Section 81-15-2-b-1 and 2 of the code is amended to read:
b-1. For the first 5 miles in the city of Milwaukee or fraction thereof: [[$28]] >>$78<<.
b-2. For each additional 5 miles in the city of Milwaukee or fraction thereof: [[$13]] >>$63<<.
Part 4. Section 81-45-1 of the code is amended to read:
81-45. Driveway Permit. 1. The application fee for a permit to install a driveway shall be [[$63]] >>$113<<.
Part 5. Section 81-50-1 to 4 of the code is amended to read:
81-50. Excavation Permit and Inspection Fees for Work in the Public Right of Way.
1. GENERAL. For the excavation required for the construction or repair of an individual storm building sewer, sanitary building sewer, combined building sewer, water service, or any combination thereof laid simultaneously in a single excavation or in more than one excavation connected by tunneling or boring, the fee shall be [[$17]] >>$67<<.
2. MAIN OR CONDUIT. For the excavation required for the laying or repair of a main or conduit in each block the fee shall be [[$17]] >>$67<<.
3. REPAIR. For the excavation required for the laying or repair of utility building services in each block the fee shall be [[$17]] >>$67<<.
4. OTHER. For any other excavation or any installation the fee shall be [[$17]] >$67<<.
Part 6. Section 81-80 of the code is amended to read:
81-80. Oversize or Overload Vehicle Permit. 1. The fee for each oversize or overload permit without police department escort shall be [[$21]] >>$71<<.
2. The fee for each oversize or overload permit with police department escort shall be [[$125]] >>$175<<. (See s. 101-5.)
Part 7. Section 81-102-3-a to c of the code is amended to read:
81-102. Public Ways: Permits for Temporary Occupancy or Use as Public Ways.
3. SIDEWALKS.
a. The fee for a period of 7 days or less shall be [[$22]] >>$72<<.
b. For a period of 8 to 30 days, the fee shall be [[$67]] >>$117<<.
c. The fee for each succeeding month or portion thereof beyond 30 days shall be [[$67]] >>$117<<.
Part 8. Section 81-102-4-a to c of the code is amended to read:
4. PARKING LANES.
a. The fee for a period of 7 days or less shall be [[$30]] >>$80<<.
b. For a period of 8 to 30 days, the fee shall be [[$92]] >>$142<<.
c. The fee for each succeeding month or portion thereof beyond 30 days shall be [[$92]] >>$142<<.
Part 9. Section 81-102-5-a to c of the code is amended to read:
5. TRAFFIC LANES AND ALLEYS.
a. The fee for a period of 7 days or less shall be [[$45]] >>$95<<.
b. For a period of 8 to 30 days, the fee shall be [[$134]] >>$184<<.
c. The fee for each succeeding month or portion thereof beyond 30 days shall be [[$134]] >>$184<<.
Part 10. Section 81-102.1-1 to 7 of the code is amended to read:
81-102.1. Public Ways: Special Permits. 1. CURB AND GUTTER. The fee for restoration of curb and gutter with respect to the removal of a driveway shall be [[$35]] >>$85<<.
2. DRIVEWAYS-TEMPORARY. The fee for installation of a temporary driveway (driveover curb) shall be [[$21]] >>$71<<.
3. FENCES. The fee for installation of a fence encroaching on the public right of way shall be [[$21]] >>$71<<.
4. HOLLOW WALKS. The fee for performance of any work on a sidewalk situated over a hollow walk shall be [[$21]] >>$71<<.
5. POLES. The fee for installing, replacing and removing utility poles shall be computed at [[$21]] >>$71<< per block face. A block face shall consist of both sides of the street and not exceed 100 house numbers. In instances when a block face of 100 house numbers is divided by one or more intersecting public ways, each subdivision shall constitute a block face.
6. SIDEWALKS. The fee for replacing sidewalks shall be computed at [[$17]] >>$67<< for regular walks per block face and [[$35]] >>$85<< for full walks per block face. A block face shall consist of both sides of the street and not exceed 100 house numbers. In instances when a block face of 100 house numbers is divided by one or more intersecting public ways, each subdivision shall constitute a block face.
7. STREET CUTS. The fee for replacing and filling street cuts shall be [[$35]] >>$85<<.
