Resolution approving a grant of easement for Verizon Wireless for access to certain personal communication services facilities located at 5600 West Oklahoma Avenue.
Analysis
This resolution approves a grant of easement from the City to Verizon Wireless, providing the company access to the 200-foot monopole and other personal communication services facilities located at 5600 West Oklahoma Avenue. The monopole, constructed pursuant to a lease agreement approved by Common Council Resolution Number 000716 (adopted September 22, 2000) is currently shared by both Ameritech and VoiceStream, Inc., both of which have consented to the terms of the grant of easement.

Whereas, The Common Council adopted Resolution File Number 960170 on June 25, 1996, establishing a policy for the leasing of City facilities for the provision of wireless telecommunications services; and
Whereas, The Common Council further adopted Resolution File Number 991575 on February 18, 2000, amending this policy; and
Whereas, These resolutions designated the Department of Administration as the City's sole negotiating agent for marketing City-owned sites to communication services vendors; and
Whereas, The Common Council adopted Resolution File Number 000716 on September 22, 2000, approving a lease agreement with Ameritech for the construction of a 200-foot monopole and the placement of personal communications services antennas at the fire station at 5600 West Oklahoma Avenue; and
Whereas, The Common Council adopted Resolution File Number 001016 on November 8, 2000, approving a lease agreement with VoiceStream Wireless for placement of PCS antennas at the same fire station; and
Whereas, The Common Council adopted Resolution File Number 001489 on February 27, 2001, approving a lease agreement with Verizon Wireless for the placement of PCS antennas on the monopole at 5600 West Oklahoma Avenue; and
Whereas, Verizon Wireless has requested a grant of easement to permit construction of and access to certain facilities associated with the monopole at 5600 West Oklahoma Avenue; and
Whereas, An agreement has been negotiated for a grant of easement with Verizon Wireless, a copy of which is attached to this file, and both Ameritech and VoiceStream are agreeable to the terms contained within it; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Common Council approves the grant of easement with Verizon Wireless pertaining to the use of certain PCS facilities located at 5600 West Oklahoma Avenue, a copy of which is attached to this file, and authorizes the appropriate City officials to enter into this agreement on behalf of the City of Milwaukee.
