Title
An ordinance relating to temporary extensions of licensed alcohol beverage premises.

Analysis
This ordinance requires local common council member approval of issuance of a temporary extension of a licensed alcohol beverage premises (currently, common council approval is required). If the local common council member does not approve of the issuance, the city clerk shall forward the application to the licensing committee for a hearing on the appeal of the decision of the common council member.

The Mayor and Common Council of the City of Milwaukee do ordain as follows:
Part 1. Section 90-4-7.8-f-1 of the code is amended to read:
90-4. Classification of Licenses.
7.8. TEMPORARY EXTENSION OF LICENSED PREMISES FOR SPECIAL EVENTS.
f. Committee Action.
f-1. If an application is approved by a common council member under par. e, the city clerk shall [[forward the application to the licensing committee for its recommendation to the common council as to whether or not a permit should be granted]] >>issue the temporary extension in accordance with par. h<< .
Part 2. Section 90-4-7.8-h of the code is amended to read:
h. Issuance. If the >>common council member approves or the<< common council grants the application for a temporary extension of licensed premises [[for special events]], the city clerk shall issue an appropriate document to the applicant confirming that fact and specifying the date, period of time and specific location for which the [[extended licensed premises]] >>temporary extension<< shall be in effect. [[Such]] >>The<< document shall also contain any restrictions or conditions which the common council >>member or common council<< may place on such approvals. The city clerk shall not issue a temporary extension if the commissioner of neighborhood services has provided the city clerk with a request to hold the issuance on the basis that the applicant has not obtained all required permits for the premises or final inspection of the premises has not yet occurred. The city clerk shall within 24 hours after the issuance of the approving document inform the chief of police of the date, place and event for which the temporary extension of licensed premises was issued.
