Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Commissioner of Public Works to execute a revised project agreement with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation for the programming, design and construction of South 35th Street from West Burnham Street to West Greenfield Avenue with State and Federal aid under the Surface Transportation Program.  The estimated total cost of the project is $1,956,500, which is an increase in construction cost of $17,500, of which the City's share is $17,500 and the Grantor's share is $0.  Construction funds for this project will be in future resolutions.
Body
Whereas, A project agreement has been executed by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation and the City of Milwaukee for the improvement of South 35th Street from West Burnham Street to West Greenfield Avenue using State and Federal Aid under the Surface Transportation Program, in accordance with the Common Council Resolution File Number 100021, adopted May 25, 2010; and
 
Whereas, The project agreement between the Wisconsin Department of Transportation and the City of Milwaukee was revised for additional funding with the Common Council File Number 121746, adopted April 30, 2013; and
 
Whereas, As part of the preliminary engineering process, project scope has changed and construction costs have been refined; and
 
Whereas, South 35th Street between West Burnham Street and West Greenfield Avenue is scheduled for preliminary design work with 80% State and Federal aid; and
 
Whereas, South 35th Street between West Burnham Street and West Mitchell Street is scheduled for final design and construction in 2014-2015 with 100% City funds; and
 
Whereas, South 35th Street between West Mitchell Street and West Greenfield Avenue is scheduled for construction in 2016 with 80% State and Federal aid, and construction funds for the project will be requested in a separate resolution; and
 
Whereas, A revised project agreement indicating revised project scope and updated construction costs has been received from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation; now therefore, be it
 
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee that the Commissioner of Public Works is hereby authorized to execute the Revised Project Agreement for the improvement of South 35th Street from West Burnham Street to West Greenfield Avenue revising project scope and updating construction costs; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the City Engineer is hereby authorized to approve and make periodic payments to the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, upon receipt of invoices, for the City of Milwaukee's share of the costs to the project; and, be it
 
Further Resolved, A copy of the revised project agreement is attached to this resolution file by reference as though set forth in full.
