Whereas, The Wisconsin Business Resource Center, Inc was founded in 1999 to increase contracting opportunities for Minority Business Enterprises (MBE) and Emerging Business Enterprises (EBE) in the public and private sectors through Wisconsin Minority Business Opportunity Center, Inc. which utilizes an internet database that matches public or private contracts with MBE and EBE contractors; and
Whereas, The Wisconsin Minority Business Opportunity Center has succeeded in surpassing pre-established goals set by the U.S. Department of Commerce for the number of opportunities disseminated, the dollar value of opportunities disseminated, contracts awards facilitated and financial transactions facilitated for 2003 and 2004; and
Whereas, Funding to Wisconsin Minority Business Opportunity Center will be used to enhance the database capability to monitor which contracts are awarded to certified minority and emerging businesses, and also expand the reporting capabilities of the database system for increased administrative review and analysis; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that $10,000 is appropriated from the Economic Development special purpose account, 0001-1310-S123-006300, to the Wisconsin Business Resource Center, Inc., for Wisconsin Minority Business Opportunity Center services, for the purpose of funding the technical development of the database and website for use by MBEs and EBEs; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the appropriate City officials are authorized and directed to negotiate and enter into an agreement with the Wisconsin Business Resource Center, Inc., for the purpose of accepting City funds for use in the technical development of the database and website for use by MBEs and EBEs.
