Title

Resolution relative to the cost participation and installation of traffic signal improvements at the intersection of West Grantosa Drive and West Hampton Avenue in the 5th Aldermanic District.  (Infrastructure Services Division)

Analysis

This resolution authorizes the Commissioner of Public Works under a State/Municipal agreement with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation to install the necessary traffic signal improvements under the 1998-01 Hazard Elimination Safety (HES) program.

Body

Whereas, The Hazard Elimination Safety (HES) program provides cost participation for traffic control improvements at locations having accident reduction potential; and

 

Whereas, Common Council Resolution File Number 980702, adopted September 23, 1998, authorized and directed the Commissioner of Public Works to execute an agreement for programming and construction of traffic control improvements at this location under the 1998-2001 Hazard Elimination Safety (HES) program; and

 

Whereas, The total estimated cost of this project is $19,476.55 for the modification of traffic signal facilities; and

 

Whereas, Ten percent of the participating project cost or $1,947.65 is non-reimbursable and is included in the Division's 2004 Capital Purpose Project/Grant Number ST320040000; and

 

Whereas, Ninety percent of the participating project cost or $17,528.89 is reimbursable from the Wisconsin Department of Transportation, and this amount is not included in Division accounts, and should be earmarked for this project in the 2004 Capital Grant and Aid Projects Fund Project/Grant Number SP032040100; now, therefore, be it

 

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Commissioner of Public Works be and hereby is authorized and directed to execute a contract with the Wisconsin Department of Transportation pertaining to the cost participation for the modification of traffic signal facilities at West Grantosa Drive and West Hampton Avenue, a copy of which is attached to this Common Council Resolution File, and is incorporated in this resolution by reference as though set forth in full; and, be it

 

Further Resolved, That upon approval of this contract, the Commissioner of Public Works is authorized and directed to modify the traffic signal facilities at the locations identified below; and, be it

 

Further Resolved, That upon approval of this contract, the City Comptroller is hereby authorized to create within the Capital Grant and Aid Projects Fund the appropriate Project/Grant Number for this project and transfer to this number the amounts required under the contract provisions but not to exceed a ten percent increase in those amounts set aside for the Grantor's Share and the City's Share as follows:
