Substitute resolution relating to the acceptance and funding of a Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development Fast Forward Grant.
Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Department of Emergency Communications to accept and fund a Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development Grant with a grantor share of up to $84,200 and a City share of up to $56,854.

Body
Whereas, The City appears to be eligible for grant funds from the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development; and

Whereas, These funds would be awarded as a Fast Forward Grant for the Department of Emergency Communications for the purpose of universal call-taker training; and

Whereas, The grant period is to extend from acceptance until September 30, 2028, with a grantor share of up to $84,200 and a City share of up to $56,854; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, That the Department of Emergency Communications is authorized to accept the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development Fast Forward Grant in accordance with Milwaukee Code of Ordinances 304-81; and, be it

Further Resolved, that the City Comptroller is authorized to:

1.  Commit funds within the Project/Grant parent account of the 2026 Special Revenue-Grant and Aid Projects Fund, the following amounts for the project titled Universal Call-Taker Training (911)

2.  Create the necessary Special Revenue Fund Grant and Aid/Project Grant and Project Levels; budget to these Project/Grant values the amounts required under the grant agreement.

 

3.  Establish the necessary City Share Project Values.

Further Resolved, that these funds are budgeted to the Department of Emergency Communications which is authorized to:

1.  Expend from the amount appropriated sums for specified purposes as indicated in the grant budget and incur costs consistent with the award date.

2.  Expend from the 2026 grant budget funds for training and certification related costs.
