Substitute resolution relative to application, acceptance and funding of the Health & Safety in Child Care Grant.
Analysis
This resolution authorizes the Health Department to apply for, accept and fund the Health & Safety in Child Care Grant from the Milwaukee County Department of Health and Human Services in the amount of $98,000. The purpose of the funding is a program that provides health and safety trainings to early childhood care providers serving children.

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee appears to be eligible for grant funds from the Milwaukee County Department of Health and Human Services for a program that provides health and safety training to early childhood care providers serving children; and
Whereas, The operation of this grant program from 01/01/06 to 12/31/06 would cost $98,000 provided by the grantor; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that application to the Milwaukee County Department of Health and Human Services is authorized and the Health Department shall accept this grant without further approval unless the terms of the grant change as indicated in Common Council File 030712 (Grant Ordinance); and, be it
Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized to:
1. Commit funds within the Project/Grant Parent of the 2006 Special Revenue-Grant and Aid Projects Fund, the following amounts for the program titled Health and Safety in Child Care Grant:

2. Create the necessary Special Revenue Fund - Grant and Aid Project/Grant and Project/Grant Levels; budget against these Project/Grant values the amount required under the grant agreement;

Further Resolved, That these funds are budgeted to the Health Department which is authorized to:
Expend from the amount budgeted sums for specified purposes as indicated in the grant budget and incur costs consistent with the award date,
Enter into contracts and leases as outlined in the grant budget; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the Common Council directs that the 2006 Positions Ordinance, C.C. File 050457, should be amended as follows:
