Title

Resolution authorizing the Commissioner of Public Works to enter into a professional services contract  for the modifications to the fuel management system at various sites (Facilities Development and Management Section).

Analysis

This resolution authorizes the Commissioner of Public Works to enter into a professional services contract not exceeding $750,000 for the modifications to the fuel management system.

 

Body

Whereas, The existing fuel management system was installed in 1978; and

 

Whereas, The existing fuel management system is installed at 21 City sites serving Police, Health, Library, Neighborhood Services, DPW, Parking, Water, and the Department of City Development, totaling 2,700 vehicles, and interconnects with the leak detection system required by EPA; and

 

Whereas, Replacement parts and hardware are no longer manufactured; and

 

Whereas, The existing fuel management system cannot be expanded to additional sites; and

 

Whereas, The Common Council approved $233,000 as part of the BU11091200 Facility Systems Account in the 2004 Capital Improvements Budget for modifications to the fuel management system; and

 

Whereas, The total estimated cost for modifications to the fuel management system is up to $750,000; and

 

Whereas, The additional funding for the modifications to the fuel management system is available in an existing Capital Improvements Account, BU11091200 Facility Systems Account; and

 

Whereas, The Department of Public Works will be issuing a request for qualifications for modifications to the fuel management system; now, therefore, be it

 

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Commissioner of Public Works is hereby authorized and directed, as being in the best interests of the City, to obtain the services of professionals to design and install modifications to the fuel management system; and, be it

 

Further Resolved, That it shall require additional Common Council approval for any contract exceeding $750,000 for the modifications to the fuel management system; and, be it

 

Further Resolved, That the cost of the professional services shall be charged against the funds already budgeted in the Facility Systems Account BU11091200 for the design and construction of the modifications to the fuel management system.
