Analysis
This resolution amends Common Council File Number 050956, adopted on December 12, 2005, relating to creating a task force to study community services staffing in the police department by extending from 4 months to 6 months the time by which the Community Services Staffing Task Force is directed to present a written report of its findings and recommendations to the Common Council.
Body
Whereas, The 2006 City Budget establishes a special purposes account entitled Community Services Staffing, and appropriates $1,500,000 from the 2006 police overtime budget with a footnote that states that no funds may be expended from the account without Common Council approval; and
Whereas, Common Council File Number 050956, adopted on December 12, 2005, established that funds in the Community Services Staffing special purpose account may only be used for police community services staff or police overtime pursuant to Common Council action following the establishment of a task force and a review of the task force’s recommendations within 4 months of the adoption of the resolution; and
Whereas, It is necessary to amend the resolution in order to provide additional time for the task force to present a written report of its findings and recommendations to the Common Council; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that Common Council File Number 050956, adopted on December 12, 2005, is amended by deleting in the fifth “Further Resolved” clause the text “four months from the adoption of this resolution” and inserting in lieu thereof: “six months from the adoption of this resolution.”
