Analysis

This resolution authorizes the Commissioner of Pubic Works to install additional fiber capacity and provide network connectivity at the expense of and for the use and benefit of Pier Wisconsin, Milwaukee Public Television, Milwaukee Area Technical College, VISIT Milwaukee and Milwaukee World Festival Inc., while providing telecommunication services for City purposes.

Body

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee is installing fiber to Milwaukee World Festival Inc. to provide telecommunications services for the Milwaukee Police and Fire Departments in order to enhance public health and safety along the lakefront; and

Whereas, Pier Wisconsin has requested a connection between Milwaukee Public Television and Milwaukee Area Technical College and their facility located at the new Pier Wisconsin Center; and

Whereas, VISIT Milwaukee has requested a connection between VISIT Milwaukee offices and their facility located within Milwaukee World Festival Inc. and Pier Wisconsin; and

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee can provide additional fiber capacity and network connectivity for Pier Wisconsin, Milwaukee Public Television, Milwaukee Area Technical College, VISIT Milwaukee and Milwaukee World Festival Inc. while installing fiber to Milwaukee World Festival Inc. for City telecommunication purposes; and

Whereas, The City will be fully compensated for the cost of the additional fiber capacity, while providing cost effective connectivity; and

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee can play an important role in enhancing educational resources, tourism and economic development and supporting cultural exchange in the community; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Commissioner of Public Works be authorized to install additional fiber capacity and to provide network connectivity at the expense of and for the use and benefit of Pier Wisconsin, Milwaukee Public Television, Milwaukee Area Technical College, VISIT Milwaukee and Milwaukee World Festival Inc.
