Title

Substitute resolution approving construction of nonassessable public improvements at various locations and appropriating funds for these purposes with the City construction cost estimated to be $727,000 for a total estimated cost of these projects being $1,509,000.

Analysis

This resolution directs the installation and construction of certain public improvements which have been determined to be nonassessable by the Commissioner of Public Works.  The City cost of the projects approved by this resolution is estimated to be $727,000.  The total estimated cost of these projects is $1,509,000.

Body

Whereas, The Common Council of the City of Milwaukee adopted preliminary resolutions determining it necessary and in the public interest to construct nonassessable improvements; and

 

Whereas, Plans, specifications and cost estimates have been prepared for the following described improvements:

 

1st Aldermanic District

 

N. 17th St. - 540 feet m/l south of W. Olive St. to 300 feet m/l north of W. Olive St. (SM495090082) File Number 091132:  Sanitary sewer relay and catch basin repair.  (Nonassessable Sewer Maintenance Relay Fund -- $250,000, Additional Funds).  The total estimated cost for this project including the requested amount is $432,000.  This project is anticipated to be completed during the 2010 construction season.

 

N. 24th Pl. - W. Ruby Ave. to W. Cornell St. (SM495100037) File Number 091548:  Sanitary sewer relay and catch basin repair.  (Nonassessable Sewer Maintenance Relay Fund -- $250,000, Additional Funds).  The total estimated cost for this project including the requested amount is $453,000.  This project is anticipated to be completed during the 2010 construction season.

 

6th Aldermanic District

 

N. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Dr. - W. McKinley Ave. to W. Burleigh St. (SM495100161) File Number 100404:  Manhole adjustment.  (Nonassessable Sewer Maintenance Relay Fund -- $25,000, Additional Funds).  The total estimated cost for this project including the requested amount is $65,000.  This project is anticipated to be completed during the 2010 construction season.

 

8th Aldermanic District

 

W. Montana St. - S. 29th St. to S. 33rd St. (SM495090096) File Number 091433:  Relay sanitary sewer.  (Nonassessable Sewer Maintenance Relay Fund -- $202,000, Additional Funds).  The total estimated cost for this project including the requested amount is $559,000.  This project is anticipated to be completed during the 2010 construction season.

 

12th Aldermanic District

 

W. Maple St. - S. 6th St. to S. 13th St. (WT410100012) File Number 091548:  Rescind the authority to abandon water main. (Nonassessable Water Fund -- $285,034.66).  The water main will be abandoned at this time because of a new plan development.  The total estimated cost for this project is $300,000.  The project is anticipated to be completed during the 2011 construction season.  Rescind nonassessable.  The final resolution No. 091548 was adopted on April 13, 2010; now, therefore, be it

 

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee that the Commissioner of Public Works is authorized and directed to proceed with said work; and, be it

 

Further Resolved, That the Department of Public Works is authorized to use the funding as specified in the above description of work; and, be it

 

Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized and directed to transfer such funds which are available for this purpose to the appropriate capital Project/Grant accounts.
