Title

Substitute resolution authorizing the conveyance of thirteen Redevelopment Authority of the City of Milwaukee-owned vacant lots to the City of Milwaukee, in the King Park neighborhood, within the 4th Aldermanic District.

Analysis

This substitute resolution authorizes the conveyance of thirteen Redevelopment Authority of the City of Milwaukee-owned lots to the City of Milwaukee, to consolidate ownership in conjunction with new land acquisitions, according to the conditions in a Land Transfer Report pursuant to Section 304-49, Milwaukee Code of Ordinances.

Body

Whereas, The Redevelopment Authority of the City of Milwaukee (“RACM”) has been the owner of the referenced thirteen residential vacant lots in the King Park neighborhood, all of which are located in a section bordered by West Juneau Avenue to the north, West Highland Avenue to the south, North 14th Street to the east, and North Callahan Place to the west, since at least January 1, 2010; and

Whereas, The City of Milwaukee (“City”) already owns six lots in the above referenced King Park neighborhood section, and has an additional nineteen lots under contract to purchase within the same section, with closing to occur on or before December 31, 2026; and

Whereas, The Department of City Development (“DCD”) recommends consolidation of all thirty-eight lots under one ownership for future development opportunities, as summarized in a Land Transfer Report and a Due Diligence Checklist, copies of which are attached to this Common Council File, and the conveyance of these thirteen lots from RACM to the City is in line with that recommendation; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee, that the Land Transfer Report and a Due Diligence Checklist are approved and that DCD is authorized to convey the property from RACM to the City in accordance therewith; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the Commissioner of DCD, or designee, is authorized to sign the deed and requisite closing documents and to close the transaction and to take such actions as may be needed to effectuate the terms of the Land Transfer Report and this resolution.
