Analysis

This resolution directs the installation and construction of certain public improvements which have been determined to be nonassessable by the Commissioner of Public Works.  The City cost of the projects approved by this resolution is estimated to be $755,000.  The total estimated cost of these projects is $1,784,500.

Body

Whereas, The Common Council of the City of Milwaukee adopted preliminary resolutions determining it necessary and in the public interest to construct nonassessable improvements; and

Whereas, Plans, specifications and cost estimates have been prepared for the following described improvements:

1st and 9th Aldermanic Districts

N. Sherman Blvd. Bridge over W. Silver Spring Dr. (ARRA) (2155-00-71) (BR52009XXXX):  City share of nonparticipating bridge rehabilitation work.  (Nonassessable Structure Fund -- $10,000).  The total estimated cost for this project including the requested amount is $672,500.  The construction portion of the project was completed during 2010 with ARRA funds.

4th and 15th Aldermanic Districts

W. Vliet St. Bridge over the Canadian Pacific Railroad (ARRA) (2035-00-70) (BR52009XXXX):  City share of nonparticipating bridge rehabilitation work.  (Nonassessable Structure Fund -- $10,000).  The total estimated cost for this project including the requested amount is $342,500.  The construction portion of the project was completed during 2010 with ARRA funds.

9th Aldermanic District

W. County Line Rd. - 105 feet west of N. Michael Ct. to 470 feet east of N. 107th St. (WT410120701) File Number 111577:  Water main extension.  (Nonassessable Water Fund Budget Line 5010 -- $56,000; Nonassessable Water Fund Budget Line 6410 -- $679,000).  The total estimated cost for this project including the requested amount is $770,000.  This project is anticipated to be completed during the 2012 construction season.

; now, therefore, be it

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee that the Commissioner of Public Works is authorized and directed to proceed with said work; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the Department of Public Works is authorized to use the funding as specified in the above description of work; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized and directed to transfer such funds which are available for this purpose to the appropriate capital Project/Grant accounts.
