Resolution authorizing and directing the Commissioner of Public Works to execute an Intergovernmental Cooperation Agreement with the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District regarding the relining work on the 54" diameter sewer in South 6th Street between West Florida Street and West Oregon Street. Analysis
This resolution authorizes and directs the Commissioner of Public Works to execute an Intergovernmental Cooperation Agreement with the Milwaukee Metropolitan Sewerage District (MMSD) for the MMSD to reimburse the City for costs to reline a MMSD sanitary sewer under the Sixth Street Viaduct. The work will be undertaken by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation's (WISDOT) Design-Build Organization (DBO). WISDOT will bill the City for this work and MMSD has agreed to reimburse the City up to $600,000. Estimates of the work are approximately $519,000.

Whereas, The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WISDOT), in conjunction with Milwaukee County and the City has currently contracted with a Design-Build Organization (DBO) to replace the Sixth Street Viaduct over the Menomonee Valley; and
Whereas, The District owns and maintains a 54" diameter sanitary sewer which extends under the existing Viaduct structure; and
Whereas, The south cable-stay pylon footing for the new Viaduct structure is proposed to be built immediately adjacent to the District's 54" diameter sanitary sewer; and
Whereas, The District has determined that the sanitary sewer needs to be relined in the area of the pylon footing (approximately 570' in length) prior to the bridge footing construction; and
Whereas, The DBO will design and prepare the contract plan and specifications, subject to District approval; and
Whereas, The WISDOT is agreeable to directing the DBO to undertake the work to reline MMSD sanitary sewer and to bill the City for the cost of the construction work; and
Whereas, The District has agreed to reimburse the City for the work up to an amount not to exceed $600,000; and
Whereas, MMSD has executed an Intergovernmental Cooperation Agreement between MMSD and the City, a copy of which is attached to the file and referenced as though set forth in full, agreeing to reimburse the City for said costs; now, therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee that the Commissioner of Public Works is hereby authorized and directed to execute an Intergovernmental Cooperation Agreement with the MMSD regarding the relining work on the MMSD 54" diameter sewer located under the existing Sixth Street Viaduct from West Oregon Street to West Florida Street (approximately 570 feet in length); and, be it
Further Resolved, That upon billing for said work from the WISDOT, the Commissioner of Public Works is directed to request reimbursement of said costs from MMSD.
