Analysis

This resolution directs the installation and construction of certain public improvements which have been determined to be nonassessable by the Commissioner of Public Works.  The City cost of the projects approved by this resolution is estimated to be $782,000.  The total estimated cost of these projects is $1,259,000.

Body

Whereas, The Common Council of the City of Milwaukee adopted preliminary resolutions determining it necessary and in the public interest to construct nonassessable improvements; and

Whereas, Plans, specifications and cost estimates have been prepared for the following described improvements:

5th Aldermanic District

W. Capitol Dr. (Southside) - N. 82nd St. to N. 84th St. (WT410230625) File Number 211861: Relaying water main. (Nonassessable Water Fund Budget Line 5010 -- $0. Nonassessable Water Fund Budget Line 6410 -- $275,000). The total estimated cost of this project including the requested amount is $290,000. This project is anticipated to be completed during the 2023 construction season.

6th Aldermanic District

E. Locust St. - N. Palmer St. to 65’ +/- East of N. Richards St. (SM495230014) File Number 230577: Relaying combined sewer and lining. (Nonassessable Sewer Maintenance Relay Fund --$282,000). The total estimated cost of this project including the requested amount is $294,000. This project is anticipated to be completed during the 2024 construction season.

Citywide

Work Done by Contractor/Paving. (WT410230750) File Number 221269: Water main alterations. (Nonassessable Water Fund Budget Line 5010 -- $0. Nonassessable Water Fund Budget Line 6410 -- $150,000 additional funding). The total estimated cost of this project including the requested amount is $300,000. This project is anticipated to be completed during the 2023 construction season.

Bridge Safety Inspection (BR100230102) File 221268: Federal and State mandated safety inspection of in-service bridges. (City share Non-assessable Structure Fund $75,000 additional funds). The total estimated cost for this project is $375,000. This project is anticipated to be completed during the 2023 construction season.

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee that the Commissioner of Public Works is authorized and directed to proceed with said work; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the Department of Public Works is authorized to use the funding as specified in the above description of work; and, be it

Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is authorized to transfer such funds which are available for this purpose to the appropriate capital Project/Grant accounts.
