Body
Whereas, The Wisconsin Department of Transportation will be reconstructing and resurfacing the Lake Interchange and approaches in conjunction with the rehabilitation of the Hoan Bridge between 2013 and 2015 and opportunities may exist to reconfigure ramps in the Lake Interchange; and
Whereas, The City of Milwaukee desires to explore options to improve accessibility to Discovery World, the Art Museum, and the Lakefront in general as well as opening additional parcels for development with the design of the Hoan Bridge project under a potential future State Municipal Agreement; and
Whereas, The existing ramp configuration of the Lake Interchange creates pedestrian safety implications at intersections along Lincoln Memorial Drive; and
Whereas, It is desirable to complete a Lake Interchange Traffic Study as defined in the Scope of Services documents attached to this resolution to examine potential options to improve Lakefront accessibility, safety and land use development opportunities; now therefore, be it
Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee that the City Engineer is hereby authorized to contract with a Consultant to perform a Lake Interchange Traffic Study within the Scope of Services attached and is incorporated in this resolution by reference as though set forth in full; and, be it
Further Resolved, That the City Comptroller is hereby authorized to create within the Capital Administrative Program for Federal/State projects, the necessary Project Chartfield values for the project (expenditure) and transfer to these accounts the amount required under City Accounting Policy, but not to exceed a 10 percent increase of the total amounts reserved for the local share or $5,000, whichever is greater, as follows:
