Title

Resolution approving a Lease between Laureate Capital, LLC, as landlord, and the City of Milwaukee, as tenant, for 4170 North 56th Street, for election-related purposes for the 2026 spring primary and election and fall primary and general elections, in the 2nd Aldermanic District.

Analysis

This resolution authorizes the City of Milwaukee to enter into a lease with the owner of 4170 North 56th Street so that the City, as a short-term tenant, may use the parcel for election-related purposes for 2026.

Body

Whereas, To better serve the community, the City of Milwaukee (“City”) utilizes a number of early voting sites across the City, prior to an election; and

 

Whereas, The City Election Commission chooses to provide an early voting site on the north side of the City to meet early voting demands in 2026; and

 

Whereas, The spring primary and election will take place on February 17, 2026 and April 7, 2026, respectively, and the fall primary and general election will take place on August 11, 2026 and November 3, 2026, respectively; and

 

Whereas, The City Election Commission would like to lease 4170 North 56th Street (aka Unit 35 of 4100 North 56th Street) from Laureate Capital, LLC, on a short-term basis for election-related purposes for the Spring and Fall 2026 primary and general elections; and

 

Whereas, Laureate Capital, LLC and the City’s Department of City Development negotiated the Lease for 4170 North 56th Street that was submitted to this file to span 12 months that covers the Spring and Fall 2026 primary and general elections; now, therefore, be it

 

Resolved, By the Common Council of the City of Milwaukee that the 12-month Lease, as submitted to this file, is hereby approved, and the City and its representatives are authorized to enter into the Lease on terms and conditions materially in conformance therewith and to take such actions, as may be needed, to effectuate the terms of the Lease and this resolution.
